Wingfield Barns welcomes exhibitions from individual artists, collectives and art groups from across the region, the county, the country and overseas.
International Mini-Print and Little Gems Exhibitions plus work from local artists…
One of the highlights of the summer season in East Anglia is the International Miniprint exhibition at Wingfield Barns. The exhibition which has been running annually since 1995 in Wingfield is curated by Ian Chance who is currently course director for the MA Creative Entrepreneurship course at the University of East Anglia. There are over 650 prints from 50 countries worldwide. This year’s collection is bound to delight both visitors and collectors alike as it provides the opportunity to buy and own original works of art created by contemporary artists at very affordable prices.
In Gallery 1 this year the Harleston & Waveney Art Trail Collective will be exhibiting ‘Little Gems - the affordable art show’ with a selection of small scale drawings, paintings, prints, mosaics and textiles. The thirty professional artists who open their studios annually all live within a ten-mile radius of Harleston and regularly collaborate in additional group exhibitions with some having solo shows throughout the year.
Admission is free to both exhibitions from Friday 12th August to Sunday 11th September 11-4pm, Wednesdays to Sundays. The private view for the two exhibitions is open to the public from 6-8pm on Thursday 11 August in Gallery 2. There is free parking adjacent to the site next to Low Road and parking for Blue Badge holders on site next to the galleries.
In Studio 4 Inspired Art will showcase the work of our art tutor John Parker and his students who have regular classes here on Tuesdays. For further info about joining the class ring John on 07442 491734.
Gallery I and Gallery 2
Saturday 8th October to Sunday 23rd October 2016
Exhibition of works by fellow artist friends of Cyril’s - exhibits will include paintings by artists Jenny Browne, Sarah Colley, and Frances Sullivan; ceramics, and a variety of craft pieces, by artists Rosemary Delfino and Penelope Pickwell.
There will also be exhibition boards showing the links between Wingfield and the village of Ewelme in Oxfordshire. The exhibition is a very personal account of how one resident of Ewelme (and member of supposedly one of the oldest families in the village) investigated his own family and their possible connection with Wingfield. Craftsmen from Wingfield built the church, almshouses and school at Ewelme.
