3 WOMEN - 3 CONTINENTS

Bob Edwards is a Wingfield based and BAFTA nominated documentary filmmaker with over 30 years experience. In recent years he has been making films for Christian Aid in Africa and also a series of personal 'portraits' of charismatic women all with a strong musical content. Bob will present 3 of his own films.

1. Lucy W (25 minutes)

Lucy Waterhouse is a professional classical violinist. She developed a passion for tango and we visited Buenos Aires, the home of tango, to learn the secrets of playing tango from the masters. On her return to the UK she recruits a band. The film finishes with a fragment from their first public performance.

2. Ma Faiza (30 minutes)

Faiza Babul was born of Indian parents and raised in London. She had an unhappy childhood, tall and overweight. She discovered her lesbian sexuality in her late teens. 12 years ago she went to India and found happiness and lovers. She developed a passion for ambient music and has built a career, selling CDs in the 'new age' markets of Goa and Pune. We visit her in India as-well as hear her 'Djing' in Hamburg and Berlin.

3. Langar Hall (45 minutes)

A week in the life of Imogen Skirving. A celebration of a person and a place and England in midsummer. Langar Hall in rural Nottinghamshire is the home she was born and raised in and now runs as an award-winning country house hotel. Langar has the wonderful atmosphere of the best sort of lived in country house. However, with a bipolar chef on the rampage it can sometimes seem like an upmarket Fawlty Towers.
