Saturday 16th September to Sunday 24th September
Open Wednesday to Sunday 11am to 4pm
Tom Palmer is a local Suffolk sculptor working in limestone, slate, marble 5and alabaster. He loves to develop each piece by exploiting the fault lines and shapes that appear to him in the stone. Tactile polished surfaces contrast with the natural surface texture of the stone which when combined with the light shining on and through the work create reflections and shadows that give an added dimension. Tom's sculptures are direct carved working in harmony with the natural colour and texture of the stone to create unique pieces.
Patricia Lomax has exhibited widely across both Europe and USA including New York, Florida, Santa Barbara, Rotterdam, Paris, and Hamburg and in Puglia (Italy) as well as London and many counties across the UK.
She says, "Nowadays I only show my work locally and continue to make art in my Suffolk studio. For many years I have taught private students in both my Suffolk and Devon studios as well as contributing to art experience in local schools and colleges. I usually work in acrylics for the spontaneity and freedom it affords me and I now have a large collection of work which has built up over the years in all sizes from 5ft square to little 6inch greeting cards. My space is available to visit all year round, by appointment, and I am always happy to talk art to anyone that cares to call."
My name is Debbie Phillips and live in Suffolk. I love painting and oil is my favourite although some pieces are in acrylic.
The sky is always changing and moving so have tried to replicate what I see. With the landscape paintings they come from my live and what I have seen, and family.
I now live in a little village surrounded by countryside and fields, where it is quite which gives me time to contemplate and give in to my inner self when painting.
I have completed nearly a year of a degree, and some of my work is now being used for teaching and advertising by the Open College of the Arts.
Bridget Palmer is an artist working in oils, acrylics and watercolour. She is a self taught artist living in Suffolk, UK. She works out of her shepherd hut studio at her home, selling and exhibiting paintings both from her studio and from local exhibitions around Suffolk.
Bridget's work reflects her passion for contemporary painting. Her use of bold colour and sweeping brush strokes in all her paintings, make her work energetic and very distinctive.
Bridget's work shows a response to an ongoing narrative between her and the painting as it slowly reveals itself, no formal plan is made, so the joy and freedom of creating remains the main focus. Always looking for balance, she pushes and pulls the paint, playing to her strengths and immersed in the drama of creating. Her compositional choice is heavily influenced by both the land and cloudscapes from her studio viewpoint and the relationship between the land and sky.

Out of the NestWe are four printmakers from Cuckoo Farm Print Workshop, Colchester, Essex. We work in a variety of mediums although there is an onus on etching, either on metal or acrylic sheets. Our work is mainly representational although both surrealism and symbolism creep in. We mainly show work with the 12 Printmakers group and exhibit once a year at Snape Maltings with other members of Cuckoo Farm Print Workshop.

An exhibition of new works by Artbox artists remembering their friend Mark Sheridan who lived at Prospect Cottage in Wingfield.
Artbox is a Community Interest Company which provides art sessions for adults (16+) with special needs. We are based in Chediston, near Halesworth, with spacious studio space set in beautiful surroundings. This exhibition has been made possible by a generous donation from Mark’s family and we hope to make it a regular feature of the Artbox calendar. Mark came to Artbox three times a week for over twelve years; it was described by his cousin as Mark’s ‘happy place’. He was the life and soul of any gathering and as a long term resident of Wingfield it seems fitting that this exhibition should be held here at Wingfield Barns. All proceeds from the exhibition will go towards funding future shows in Mark’s memory by the Artbox artists. Artbox is a not-for-profit organisation set up to provide daytime creative art workshops for adults 16+ with special needs in the Waveney area of Suffolk. The sessions are facilitated by artist Helen Murray and her team at our large well equipped studio at The House on The Hill Chediston, near Halesworth Our aim is to encourage art as an activity beneficial to mental health and well-being and to enable opportunities for our artists (Artboxers) to make, exhibit and sell their work. We are committed to providing new opportunities for the Artboxers, helping to develop their confidence and self esteem. |

Keith Judge
"Although I was born in London, I have spent most of my life living and working in East Anglia. I originally studied painting and illustration at Colchester School of Art before going on to do Photography and Film at the Royal College of Art. After a career in the Film and TV industry, I returned to painting full time which had always been my main passion. Like many East Anglian artists, I became inspired by the unique and challenging qualities of the Norfolk and Suffolk coastlines. In particular Covehithe beach, and the cliffs at Happisburgh and Holkham beach in Norfolk."
Keith will be exhibiting his work in Gallery 2 from Saturday 26th June to Sunday 11th July, open Wednesday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm.

Monotype Printmaking Workshop
Would you like to make your own Mini Print? Come and join Sally Hirst on a printmaking course here at Wingfield Barns.
This is a very painterly way of printmaking; rolling on layers of paint and creating lines and textures through wiping, brushing, masking and stenciling. We will be using Gelli© plates that are designed to release the paint on contact with the paper. Each piece of paper will return to the plate a number of times building layers of colour and texture. Suitable for both beginners and those with some experience. The workshop fee includes all tools and materials, you just need to bring an apron or old shirt to protect your clothing. Thursday 1st August, 10.00 to 12.30 Refreshments provided. £20 Link to online booking: http://www.wegottickets.com/event/462770 |
